| After the Missouri Comprimise of 1821 Missouri became the 24th State of the Union. In 1827 the town of Independence was platted and a log courthouse was constructed. One way to get a feel for Independence Missouri is to view it's historic Homes. |

The Vaile Mansion for example... was built in 1881 by Colonel and Mrs. Harvey Vaile. This mansion has 31 rooms and includes 9 marble fireplaces.
